Summers are fun and educational at Montessori Island School.
The
Toddler Program remains mostly the same in the summer, but
the preschool, kindergarten and first grade kids take this
time to have even more fun than the rest of the year. The
summer program provides the young minds of our students with
a balance of academic adventure and recreation, fresh air
and fun, plus new experiences and understanding of subjects
they have not explored before.
We take an interest in a few
specific subjects and do extended group projects around these
themes and ideas. Field trips become more frequent and longer,
with weekly trips whenever possible to interesting places,
sometimes relating to topics of study, and many times including
a picnic stop at one of the local parks and supervised beaches.
We
increase our efforts to have "guest visitors" come
to school to give presentations in fun and entertaining ways.
Sprinkler and water days are held at least a couple of times
a week, and sometimes siblings, former students or children
from the community join us when appropriate, assisting as "camp
counselors" and participating in the fun.
Because families
need flexibility in the summer months, weekly or monthly
tuition schedules are available with prior registration.
Call the Director or office staff for more info.
