Conveniently located between
the communities of Islamorada and Key Largo in Tavernier,
near to the areas only large shopping center, our colorful
facility, (featured in an article in ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW),
was designed and built in 1996 solely and specifically with
the Montessori ideals of beauty, simplicity, safety and optimum
learning as guiding principles.
Each
of our classrooms are spacious and comfortable permitting
a wide range of learning materials to be available at all
times. Large windows set low allow natural light and views
of the surrounding foliage, while bathroom and sink facilities
in each room meet all the children's needs with convenience
and safety. In addition, observation rooms adjacent to each
classroom allow parents to drop in "unnoticed" and
watch their children working at any time, (a Montessori tradition).
Playtime
is as important as work time in the development
of the young child. The playground areas are therefore
full of activities and equipment for physical and imaginative
play. The
play areas are delineated by age group so that play time
remains safe and appropriate to the physical needs of each
class. A number of the play spaces are covered so that
activities can continue even in rainy or hot conditions,
and each area is of a size and shape for efficient supervision.
Come by
for a tour and see for yourself how a nurturing and stimulating
environment promotes good growth and learning.
